Grant Opportunity for Teachers

We are delighted to share with you that University of Texas at Arlington and Arkansas State University are offering Tulsa Classroom teachers Association members convenient, affordable, and high quality online master’s degrees. The Federal Government is also providing funding resources available to all Title I schools to fund your entire degree.

Title I teachers have the opportunity to take advantage of Federal loans and grants such as the Title I Loan Forgiveness Program, the TEACH Grant, and the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program to assist with finding their advanced degrees.

Through July, 2010, UT Arlington continues to offer the online master’s degree program for $4,950. Tuition rates increase to $6,450 for classes beginning August 16th, 2010. Arkansas State University is offering their online Master in Education degree for $7,488. There is no GRE required for ASU.

Immediate Assistance for Members Suffering a Loss

The Tulsa Teachers Immediate Assistance Club is administered by TCTA. Unlike other member benefits, available only to TCTA members, the TTIAC is available to all TPS employees (subject to qualifications listed below). Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to a beneficiary upon the death of the TTIAC member. Organized in 1941, it has provided assistance to members for 61 years. Subject to qualifications, membership is available to full-time employees of TPS, their spouses and unmarried children.

TCTA has negotiated language that teachers may apply for a transfer within 10 days of notification of a principal change. The official notice is the announcement of the change on the school board agenda. The following changes have appeared:

Brenda Jeter will move from Whitman to ECDC Bunche and ECDC Reed

Kashannia Sedlack will be AP at Cleveland

Dixie Speer will be AP at Hale

Rachel Stacy will leave her AP position at BTW to be Principal at Wilson

Caleb Starr will move from Wilson to Hale

Tammie Bowman will be AP at Hamilton

Kendra Bramlett will leave her AP

Tammy Britton will leave Burroughs and go to Cooper

Phil Boone will leave his AP job at Central to become the principal at TRAICE Academy
